Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian Says ETH Will Hit $15,000 Before 2019

Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian Says ETH Will Hit $15,000 Before 2019

Some days ago bitcoiner Tim Draper predicted the surge of the first crypto to the margin of $250,000 in four years, whereas earlier Fundstrat’s Tom Lee said BTC’s price would get as high as to $50,000 by the end of the current year.

And it seems that it is not bitcoin only that will beat incredible records. At least, that’s what the co-constitutor of Reddit Alexis Ohanian thinks.

According to Ohanian’s predictions, Ether’s price will skyrocket to the limit of $15,000 per unit. And that will happen this year already.

Hitting New Highs

Since the first day of its existence, ethereum has never surpassed the high of $1,400, which it approached this year January. However, the sky is the limit – Alexis Ohanian, the Armenian-American entrepreneur and a husband of the professional tennis player Serena Williams, is bullish concerning ether’s future.

In a conversation with the Fortune’s journalist, Ohanian claimed bitcoin well hit $20,000, whereas ether will remain it’s “little brother” with $15,000 at a value before 2019 comes:

“At the end of the year, Bitcoin will be at $20,000. And Ethereum will be at $15,000. Great, now people can call me out if I’m wrong.”

Ohanian is currently working at a VC firm Initialized Capital on a full-time basis. And in an interview with Fortune, he said he is optimistic about ether because in fact people “are building” on its platform.

So if his words appear to be true in the span of time, the market cap of the second most valuable cyber coin ETH will surge from $67 billion to approximately $2.5 trillion. Bitcoin, in its turn, will be able to recuperate to the previous market cap of $340 billion.

One may wonder how come Ohanian happens to predict the potential prices of the two most popular cryptos. Actually, this entrepreneur said that for the Initialized Capital it is crucial to pile its funds into emerging technologies, which could change the world – that’s the priority for this vencap firm.

Ohanian was the one who founded the Initialized Capital, and at present, the firm manages over the number of assets worth $250 million. Moreover, the entrepreneur’s firm has piled into the top cyber money bourse Coinbase.

By the way, he sold Reddit around 12 years ago to Conde Nast, the publishing house, for about $10-$20 million.

Ohanian On The Blockchain

As Ohanian remains bullish concerning BTC and ETH, he says it might take much longer time for the blockchain to reach its full potential.

In the interview, he said that 2018 is about this tech trend. He compared the rage over it with the popularity over machine learning as well as artificial intelligence.

“Most of the really vital, protocol-level, basic infrastructure around software and blockchain will need to get built in the next year or two for us to really see the Web 3.0 we’re really hoping for,” said Ohanian.

He also added that, according to his beliefs, these are the things that will soon become the basis of a much better Internet.
