Despite the rumors, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will not offer services on Blockchain technology in the nearest time.
CEO Andy Jassy made a statement at the AWS annual re:Invent conference held in Las Vegas in November. Jassy talked about the views on Blockchain technology and stated that there are limited use cases of Blockchain beyond the distributed ledger. He has also confirmed the company's policy to “build technology because we think it is cool.”

According to Jassy, there are some other solutions to the problems besides the Blockchain technology. He stressed that most of the distributed ledgers that are available so far have insufficient opportunities. Despite the rumors, Amazon Web Services (AWS) will not offer services on Blockchain technology in the nearest time.
However, Jassy does not deny the possibility of using and working with this technology in the future: “We are very intrigued by what customers are ultimately going to do there.”
AWS competitors
Unlike AWS, such companies as Microsoft and International Business Machines (IBM) actively promote projects related to the Blockchain services and systems of distributed registries. In the last two months, these companies have launched several Blockchain services and pilot projects in cooperation with customers.
What is AWS?
Amazon Web Service is a cloud security services platform, with stores and facilities to improve service delivery and content used by online shop Amazon.com. This web services set are for users engaging in the storage, computing, analytics, mobile services and various applications.
Nowadays Blockchain-based services are everywhere. Many banks use this technology to provide safe and fast transactions for clients. However, Amazon does not hurry to launch Blockchain. AWS can solve different problems without such technology and does not want to build it because of steepness.
